Does a spa need a permit?
Yes. In Western Australia, any spa or hot tub that can hold more than 300 mm (30 cm) of water needs a building permit and a compliant safety barrier, and it will be included in council's regular pool inspections. That includes portable and above-ground spas, swim spas and in-ground spas.
Spa safety barriers and lockable lids
Every spa needs a barrier that stops young children getting in. Depending on when the spa was installed and how it is set up, this can be a pool-style fence or, in some cases, a compliant lockable lid. We tell you exactly which option applies to your spa.
What we handle
